    Understanding Radiofrequency Neck Skin Tightening

    Last updated 28 days ago

The last few years have brought us several innovative skin enhancement techniques.  The most exciting and effective advancements is radiofrequency skin tightening. In less than an hour, without surgery, patients can now receive safe and comfortable treatment for loose and sagging neck skin.

    • What is radiofrequency skin tightening?

Radiofrequency skin tightening uses high-energy radio waves to warm the skin to a temperature at which it shrinks naturally and continues to shrink for several months. This procedure can be performed in the office in approximately one hour. A local anesthetic is used to keep you very comfortable, so the vast majority of patients experience no discomfort or negative sensations during treatment. Once the procedure is finished, patients can resume their normal routine.

    • How does the radiofrequency process work?

The radio waves are transmitted to the deep layer of the skin with a thin temperature controlled probe. The energy stimulates the collagen in the dermis, causing it to tighten. After one treatment, a patient can see a noticeable improvement. A single treatment can enhance the neck contour and improve the skin texture. Patients should also note that the collagen layer continues to improve for three to six months following the initial treatment. Other systems use surface probes to heat the skin but they usually require multiple treatments.

    • Who can benefit from radiofrequency skin tightening?

Adult patients of all ages can take advantage of this highly effective treatment. Radiofrequency skin tightening can be performed on its own to improve the neck contour, or as part of other cosmetic procedures. Consult a cosmetic surgeon today to learn more about how radiofrequency skin tightening can restore the beauty and youthfulness of your skin.

What You Need to Know About Facelifts

    Last updated 1 month ago

Today, facelifts are much simpler with easier recovery than ever before, and they provide such natural appearing improvements that most people will not know why you look so good.  A facelift usually includes lifting and smoothing the neck, jowls, and cheeks.  Other procedures may be suggested to improve the eyelids, forehead, and skin texture.

With the new simpler techniques, better anesthesia drugs and techniques, and an experienced, conservative surgeon, you will have very little discomfort, swelling or bruising, and you will be amazed at how rapidly you recover and get back to your normal activities.  General anesthesia can be provided with just an IV drug and local anesthesia. No breathing tubes are usually needed when the procedure is performed by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. These surgeons are trained in anesthesia and cosmetic surgery.  Without breathing tubes, the anesthetic can be lighter so you recover faster with minimal side effects.

Facelifts are usually performed in surgical suites within the surgeon’s office. This keeps the whole process simpler, very private, and less expensive.  So, if you are considering a facelift, visit an oral and maxillofacial surgeon for a consultation. You will be pleasantly surprised at how simple the process has become.

Dr. Kevin McBride provides a personalized approach to each patient undergoing the facelift process. If you would like to learn more about this procedure, call our Dallas location at (214) 989-4796. Together, we can determine if a facelift is the right choice for you.
